Make-up
The second thing is, you need to have knowledge of what makeup to use! You need to get an eye shadow, eye liner and a mascara. A usual smokey eye works with three tones of eye shadow, oftentimes in the black and gray family, by having one shade being the darkest, the next a medium shade, and a light shade. For example, gray shadow for your darkest shade, a medium gray, and silver for blending. These are typical smokey eye hues a person can achieve with black eye liner and a black mascara. If your eyes are blue, use tones in the brown family. If your eyes are brown, you can opt for many more tones: green, purple, blue, you name it!

Application
Now the fun part: putting on your makeup! Your first step is getting the lightest of your three shadows and spreading it, right below your eyebrows all the way across with the use of your domed brush from your makeup brush kit. And then, take your lightest shade once more, and put it to the inside area or your top and bottom lids. Your inner shade should just be sweep all over the remainder of your eyelid, ensuring that your tones are blending all together. Do not add this shade past your eyelid and toward the eyebrow part. Then, take your darkest shadow and apply from the centre area in between your eyelid and eyebrow, and then sweep the brush in a C to the outside side of your eye. Blend, blend, blend the three colours all together! Now, take your eye liner and add heavily just above your lid line, and mix to come up with a smudged look. Top your eyes off with mascara.
