Just Say "No" to Junk Musical Instruments

It’s a pet peeve of mine when I see a child’s toy collection include so-called “musical instruments” which more appropriately belong in the recycle bin. I mean, what’s the point of giving a child a lump of plastic that makes a tinny wheezing sound and expect him or her to pay any attention to it, much less go back to it repeatedly because he is captivated by the sound and his ability to produce pleasing tones. Let’s take the high road on this- it’s too important to do otherwise.

We must realize what we are doing when we give a child a musical instrument. This shouldn’t be just another gift. Rather, we must think that we are providing the child with an introduction to the wonderful world of music. Music is one of the greatest gifts to mankind and we, as adults, are obligated to encourage its spread. Music, as most of us know, has profound beneficial effects on the human being, and, in turn, the world itself. Thus we should be giving away lots of a rel="nofollow" href="”
