Twisted Sisters or Just Two Sisters in Need of a First Aid Kit?

Two of the five girls I provide daycare for are sisters. They’re 6 and 7. Imagine them both on a pair of rollerblades for the first time! They each had their rollerblades on and I thought it was going to be a good training session. Well, the younger one started rolling and got a little anxious (she was heading downhill, gaining speed on the driveway). She took hold of her older sister by the arm and pulled them both down. Unfortunately, the older sister, Emily, twisted her ankle.

I reached for the first aid kit and activated the cold pack. It works like crushed ice, holding the swelling down and hopefully helping with the pain. I then called Mom and explained what happened. We agreed a trip to the doctor wasn’t required, but I think the cold pack played a large role in keeping any swelling down (we also raised up her leg), and I couldn’t have been more appreciative. And, yes, tomorrow (or maybe we’ll wait just a few days) she’ll be back out there trying it again. Kids! So resilient!
