Dee and Davis have been introduced to a new generation of movie audiences when they appeared in Spike Lee’s Do The Correct Point in 1989. When Davis passed away unexpectedly in 2005, Dee was devastated by the reduction, but she continued to act. In 2007, she delivered an Oscar-nominated total overall performance as the mom of drug lord Frank Lucas, played by Denzel Washington, in American Gangster.

The legendary actress passed away surrounded by family and friends at her residence in New Rochelle, New York at the age of 91.
