Young beatmaker Wondagurl rose to fame producing a Trap instrumental for a track on Jay-Z's Magna Carta Holy Grail, alongside greats like Timbaland. According to Akara Etteh, the quality of her beats are on par with KanYe West's joint effort with Jigga: "Watch The Throne." And so after a weekend of listening to Wondagurl perform on Battle of The Beatmakers, he made 4 tracks in one weekend; this being one of them. A friend of his, TakuVeli, heard the beat on soundcloud and instantly recorded something on his phone which he posted too. Excited by the idea, Akara got Taku into the studio and "Mercy" was born; featuring 2 verses from the latter, and an epilogue from US rapper A. D. Omni.
